Benjamin F. Shambaugh Award

 

 

Benjamin F. Shambaugh Award recognizes the book judged as the most significant book on Iowa history published during the preceding year.

Each nominated book will be evaluated on the following, equally weighted, criteria: its contribution to knowledge about Iowa history; scholarship; readability; and appropriateness for the intended audience.

The public may nominate entries for the Shambaugh award by mail. Nominators must submit:

  • The title of the book

  • Name and address of the author

  • Name and address of the publisher

  • Year of publication

Only one Shambaugh Award is given each year. In addition, two Certificates of Recognition may be awarded.
