Reading Room hours

The hours of reference & retrieval are:

Tuesday through Friday - 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closed Sunday, Monday and official state holidays and on any Saturday which precedes a Monday or follows a Friday holiday.

The audio-visual and manuscript collections are closed on Saturdays unless arrangements are made in advance.  Special collections materials can be used on Saturdays by requesting the needed material prior to noon on the preceding Friday.

The State Historical Society of Iowa welcomes tours of its reading roms. To schedule a tour, please contact the reference staff.
