2010 Blues Before Sunset concert series concludes Friday

Matt Woods and the Thunderbolts at the State Historical Building

(DES MOINES) – The State Historical Society of Iowa’s 10th anniversary Blues Before Sunset concert series closes Friday with Matt Woods and the Thunderbolts.

The concert will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. outdoors in front of the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines.

Matt Woods has been a regular feature on the Blues Before Sunset stage since his early days playing solo during intermissions. Today, Matt Woods and the Thunderbolts has a solid fan base and regular bookings around Des Moines and the Midwest. Most recently, the band opened for Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon at the Iowa State Fair. Woods is backed by Michael Swanger on drums and Scott Cochran on bass.

Blues Before Sunset is free and family-friendly with beer, wine and assorted beverages for sale and food vendors on site. Participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs for seating.

The concert series is presented by the State Historical Society of Iowa with support from Café Baratta’s and the Central Iowa Blues Society.
