Summer concert series moves to Historical Building’s Grand Terrace
(DES MOINES) – The State Historical Society of Iowa today announced the schedule for its 2011 Blues Before Sunset concert series, which will be held this year on the Grand Terrace of the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines.
The 11th annual 2011 Blues Before Sunset schedule follows:
June 3 – Hot Tamale & the Red Hots
July 8 – Bella Soul featuring Tina Haase Findlay
Aug. 5 – Fat Tuesday & the Greasefire Keys
Sept. 2 – Matt Woods & the Thunderbolts
Each Blues Before Sunset concert is 5:30-7:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public. Food vendors include Fat Tuesday Cajun Restaurant and Baratta’s (pizza by the slice). Beer, wine and water will be available for purchase, and vendors will have soft drinks available in addition to food.
This year, Blues Before Sunset moves from the 600 block of E. Locust Street to the State Historical Building’s Grand Terrace, which has street level access from Grand Avenue. The terrace offers built-in bench seating, but patrons are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
