ABSTRACT: Collection contains of a list of mines in the Mystic, Iowa area and a list of mines in the Brazil, Iowa area and newspaper clippings about mines in Centerville, Iowa. The records also include a 1932 election tally sheet for United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) District 13 in an oversize folder in M 1.7 (map case 1, drawer 7). Copies of photographs of John Ducey and his family in the 1890s and a rescue attempt in an Oskaloosa, Iowa mine in the 1890s can be found in the State Historical Society of Iowa’s photograph collection.
