MOINES) – Board members and staff from
the State Historical Society of Iowa and Iowa Historical
Foundation will meet Thursday at the Edgewood School
of Domestic Arts, 719 River Street in Iowa Falls.
The SHSI board of trustees meeting is at 9 a.m. Thursday
and is open to the public. The IHF, a private, non-profit
corporation, will hold its board meeting at 1 p.m. SHSI and IHF board members and staff will gather
in Iowa Falls at 2:30 p.m. today for a tour of the
Round Barn, Railroad Properties and Union Depot, and
Mills Tower before having a reception at 5 p.m. at
the Carnegie Building, where they will meet members
of the Iowa Falls community. The State Historical Society of Iowa is a division
of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and serves
as a trustee of Iowa’s historical legacy and
as an advocate for understanding Iowa’s past.
Its dual mission of preservation and education involves
identifying, recording, collecting, preserving, managing
and providing access to Iowa’s historical resources.
As an advocate of understanding Iowa’s past,
SHSI educates Iowans of all ages, conducts and stimulates
research, disseminates information, and encourages
and supports historical preservation and education
efforts of others throughout the state.
The Iowa Historical Foundation is a private, not-for-profit
corporation that serves the State Historical Society
through fundraising, membership and other events.
