(DES MOINES) – The State Historical Museum will offer a smorgasbord of fun this weekend with free activities for kids on Saturday and a “Pamper Room” for moms on Mother’s Day.

“Spring Festival,” 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, will feature crafts, face painting and games, including jump roping with West Des Moines Girl Scouts at Noon. Visitors to the museum will also take home a free packet of flower seeds, courtesy of Earl May Nursery & Garden Centers.

On Mother’s Day, dad and the kids can treat mom with a story, make cards and let her enjoy the “Pamper Room” 12:30-3:30 p.m. The Iowa Museum gift shop will be open for those special Mother’s Day gifts, too.

The State Historical Museum is at 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines’ Historic East Village. Hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and Noon-4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Visit www.iowahistory.org for more information.
