(DES MOINES) – A book fair hosted Sunday by Barnes & Noble Booksellers in West Des Moines will support programs and activities for children at the State Historical Museum.

The book fair will be 1-4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 4550 University Avenue in West Des Moines. Proceeds will support the Historical Museum’s “History Through the Arts” children’s educational theater program and the “Museum Monster Mash.”

“We want to thank Barnes & Noble for helping to support educational programs for children at the Museum,” Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs Director Cyndi Pederson said. “Barnes & Noble customers only need to tell cashiers they want to have part of the sales go to the State Historical Museum. There are no coupons necessary and there is no cost to the customer.”

State Historical Museum staff will present a variety of activities at Barnes & Noble Sunday, including a Mammoth story time 1-2 p.m., bookmark workshop 2-3 p.m. and a presentation about Mammoth bones 3-4 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public.
