Historical Museum offers activity during HeArt Fest "A Fine Art Show"

(DES MOINES) – State Historical Museum staff and volunteers will help children and families make old-fashioned valentine’s cards and other crafts noon-5 p.m. during HeArt Fest “A Fine Art Show” Feb. 9-10 at Valley West Mall in West Des Moines.

Donations of $1.50 will help students attend “History Through the Arts” performances at the State Historical Museum, 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines’ Historic East Village. “History Through the Arts” is a program that teaches international, national and Iowa history through interactive theater productions and activities.

HeArt Fest “A Fine Art Show” will be 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Feb. 9 and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Feb. 10 at Valley West Mall in West Des Moines. “HeArt Fest” is presented by Sue Stookey, who also presents the annual ArtFest Midwest “The Other Art Show” at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

The State Historical Society of Iowa is a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, and a trustee of Iowa’s historical legacy and an advocate for understanding Iowa’s past.
