Certified Local Government Grant Program

 

 

Please note that the CLG grant program is open only to those Iowa cities, counties and land use districts that have signed a Certified Local Government Agreement with the State of Iowa and National Park Service. In addition, CLG cities, counties, and land use districts must be current in their submission of Iowa CLG Annual Report forms. In other words, submitted all annual reports from 1993 or from year of certification up through 2007.

Deadline for Grant Applications

Applications for the 2009 grant round must be postmarked before midnight August 29, 2008. Hand-delivered applications must be submitted to the Historic Preservation Office, 3 East, Historical Building by 4:30 p.m. on August 29, 2009.

Important Dates for the 2009 CLG Grant Round

August 4, 2008     
Submit a draft application for review and comment by State Historic Preservation Office staff (optional for most categories but recommended; CLGs applying for a planning for preservation grant must submit a draft application)

August 13, 2008    
The State will return comments on draft applications to the applicants.

August 29, 2008    
Final grant applications must be post marked by this date.  Hand-delivered applications must be delivered by this date.

October 10, 2008   
State Nominations Review Committee (SNRC) meets to make final recommendations for CLG grant awards.

Mid-December 2008  
CLG grant applicants will be notified of grant awards.

Mid-January 2009   
CLG Grant-In-Aid Agreements (grant contracts) will be sent to 2009 awardees.

February 1, 2009
Earliest possible start date for the 2009 CLG Grant Projects

June 30, 2010      
2009 CLG Grant projects must be completed

Requesting Old Applications
CLG grant applicants may request copies of previously funded CLG grant applications for projects that are similar to the ones that they are planning to do.
