Under the Certified Local Government (CLG) Agreement with the State, historic preservation commissions are responsible for submitting an annual report summarizing your city or county's historic preservation work during the calendar year. Preparing the annual report is the commission's responsibility so please make sure that all commission members contribute information. I encourage you to use the report as an opportunity to discuss with your city council or board of supervisors what you’ve been doing and what your plans are for the coming year. Also, please have your mayor or chair of the Board of Supervisors sign the report. The person who prepares the report needs to sign on page 3. Unsigned reports will not be accepted and incomplete reports will be returned with a request that they be completed.
There is an additional reason why it is important to submit your annual report. The Historical Resource Development Program (HRDP) grant guidelines require that CLGs which wish to apply for an HRDP grant must be current with their CLG annual report in order to be eligible to apply. This is also the policy for the CLG grant program.
