Training Opportunities for Historic Preservations Commissions

One of the requirements of the CLG program is that historic preservation commissioners undergo historic preservation training on an annual basis. Throughout the year, the State Historic Preservation Office notifies CLGs of training opportunities including workshops and conferences on a variety of topics. These are also posted on our website.

Other training opportunities are available online and provide excellent instruction for new commissioners as well as those with more experience. Some online tutorials developed by the National Park Service can be counted towards the annual training requirement for CLGs.

Please keep a record of the name of the tutorial, the names of the individuals (historic preservation commissioners, staff, and elected officials) who completed the training and the date. This information should be recorded on the CLG’s annual report.
