Iowa Civil War Sesquicentennial Endorsement Program Guidelines

The intent of this process is to promote and encourage recognition of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, as part of a national observance.

Benefits of Endorsement

• Permission to use the Iowa logo on any promotional materials
• Letter of endorsement by the Committee

Funding Limitations
The Committee does not provide funding for endorsed projects

Endorsement Criteria

• Event or activity must clearly show that it has a direct relationship to the observance of the Civil War.
• Event or activity must be fully accessible and open to the public
• Event or activity must occur between 2011 and 2015.

The Process
To be eligible for endorsement review an application must be completed. A subcommittee of the Committee will review and have the power to approve.  Applications may be submitted by regular mail or e-mail.

Ineligible Applications
The Committee will not endorse the following:

• Individuals
• Events that are political in nature
• For-profit ventures
• Political organizations

Responsibilities and Expectations of Endorsed Projects

• Endorsed projects must confirm via email or regular mail their acceptance of the endorsement.
• Endorsed projects will be asked to submit an evaluation report within 30 days of the completion of the event or activity

The State Historical Society of Iowa’s Iowa Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee reserves the right to include images, names, locations, dates and other information about endorsed projects in its own promotion of Iowa Civil War Sesquicentennial observance.
