Interested
individuals have requested the General Assembly to designate the
crinoid as the official state fossil because:
- crinoids
symbolize Iowa’s geologic and paleontological heritage of
- crinoid
are common fossils found in the Paleozoic rocks which
underlie most of Iowa
- Iowans
have made significant contributions to the identification
and preservation of crinoids and the publication their
research.
