Quilts tell our stories and at the same time, preserve history for future generations.

They hold our memories, moments and lives.

Mary Barton, an Indianola native, spent more than two decades researching the fabrics, dyes, patterns and other features to identify the era and make of quilts.

Her donations to the museum include 67 quilts, quilt tops, hundreds of fabric samples, laces and trims. Several of her donated quilts are on display.
