| The
State Historical Society of Iowa offers conservation and consultation services
to individuals and organizations interested in preserving pieces of Iowa history.
The State Historical Society provides this service for a fee that is consistent
with the organization's mission to preserve and educate.
Thanks
to the Preservation Center, Iowans have greater access to certain preservation
and conservation services that previously were not available in Iowa. State Historical
Society conservators and other staff can provide treatments, conservation surveys,
or workshops at costs competitive with labs and firms from other states.
Through
the Preservation Center, the State Historical Society offers a variety of workshops
such as:
- Care
of Antique Furniture
- Care of Historic or
Heirloom Clothing
- Photo Identification
and Care
- Records Management and
Assistance
Services can also be
arranged for construction of special exhibit cases, interpretive planning assistance,
or for crating artifacts or paintings for shipment.
