Grounds for Celebration Offers World-Class Menu
Grounds for Celebration, the café located in the State Historical Museum,
offers a selection of lunch fare that rotates just about every month. In addition
to lunch, Grounds serves some of the best coffee in Des Moines, desserts, gelato
and provides catering for events in the building.
Here is the current menu:
Salad: Berry & Citrus. Mixed baby greens topped with fresh strawberries, Clementine tangerines, red onion, toasted almonds and sesame seeds. Finished with a side of berry balsamic vinaigrette.
Sandwich: Chicken Salad on Croissant. Creamy, all-white meat chicken salad with grapes, walnuts and celery. Served with pasta salad and fresh fruit.
Panini Grilled Sandwiches (all served with potato salad and fresh fruit):
Ham and Bacon Mozzarella. Ham, thinly sliced apple, bacon, mozzarella cheese, and brown sugared cream cheese on three-seed wheat.
Turkey Pesto. Turkey, fresh basil, roasted red peppers, provolone cheese, and pesto mayo on ciabatta bread.
Reuben. Corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on light rye.
Veggie Pizza. Zucchini, mushrooms, black olives, red onion, fresh oregano, marinara sauce, and mozzarella cheese on focaccia bread.
Pasta: Penne Alfredo. Hot penne pasta tossed with broccoli, sun dried tomatoes, and yellow squash. Then topped with creamy alfredo sauce and fresh chives. Served with fresh bread and fruit.
Soup: Two daily selections with fresh bread and fruit.
Fresh fruit plate: Selection of seasonally fresh fruit with fresh bread and Brie.
Quiche of the Day: Served with a side of baby greens, fresh bread, and fruit.
Desserts: Lemon supreme cake, carrot cake, chocolate cake,
mixed berry flan tart, New York style cheesecake, gelato (Italian style ice cream).
Grounds for Celebration also offers a wide range of espresso drinks as well as
coffee, tea and chai.
