2006 Organ Recital Series Begins April 30
The 2006 series of organ recital concerts will begin Sunday, April 30, at the Union Sunday School in Clermont with a performance by Robyn Docken of Galesville, Wisconsin at 2:30 p.m. Docken has been a church organist since 1961 and uses her talent to teach piano and organ, accompany school choral groups and provide entertainment at retirement homes and health facilities.
The organ recital series began at Union Sunday School in 1980 and has brought performers from across the U.S. and one from Spain. The large Kimball pneumatic tubular organ is the largest of its kind still in working condition. Iowa’s 12th Governor, William Larrabee, bought the organ in 1896 for $3,000.
The recitals are co-sponsored by the State Historical Society of Iowa and
the Clermont Historical Society. Admission is a freewill donation. Future
recitals will be held the last Sunday of each month through October at 2:30
p.m. For more information, contact Nadine West at Montauk, (563) 423-7173.
