speakers who are flexible and enjoy working with people
of all ages and learning new information make great
docents.
Museum Ambassadors are needed to greet
visitors and school groups, answer questions and assist
as needed in the exhibits during weekends, special events
and on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am
to 1:30 pm.. They provide excellent customer service
in a museum setting. This is an enjoyable way to work
in a museum.
The Museum Theater program needs volunteers
who can help 4 - 40 hours a week with office work, phone
calls, grant writing, marketing, planning programs and
workshops, computer work, sending out information and
invoices to schools, taking orders, and finding volunteers
for programs. Group leaders are needed for every production
to assist school groups attending workshops.

volunteers to develop activities and writing material
for early childhood literacy, education programs and
volunteer and intern projects. Good experience for education
majors or someone wondering what to do with a social
studies major. Time will vary per project.
The State Historical Library needs
volunteers who enjoy books and research and assisting
people. If you look forward to quiet, focused work in
a library and consider yourself a self-starter, this
is a good opportunity for you. There are service opportunities
every Saturday 9 am to 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm to 4:30
pm. and during the week, especially on Friday afternoons.
Volunteer a few hours of your time at
any or all of these special events and programs. Ask
your friends and volunteer as a group. These events
and programs are a great opportunity for earning volunteer
service hours for your school or workplace.
